We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVACR Technician to join our Engineering team in a large, full-service hotel environment. This position is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of complex commercial HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen, laundry, and building mechanical systems that support hotel operations 24 hours a day.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems. They must also demonstrate exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain a strong commitment to safety, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence.
As a key member of the Engineering team, this individual may also provide support across other maintenance disciplines and assist with department coverage as operational needs require.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handling units, package units, pumps, exhaust systems, walk-in coolers/freezers, and related controls.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on hotel mechanical systems to maximize equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
Troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and mechanical system failures using advanced diagnostic techniques.
Maintain and repair commercial kitchen and laundry equipment.
Respond promptly to service calls, equipment failures, guest requests, and emergency situations.
Monitor and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) and associated controls.
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventive maintenance documentation.
Collaborate effectively with engineering team members, contractors, vendors, and hotel leadership to ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
Assist with general engineering duties and shift coverage as required **.
Qualifications:
Qualifications**
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience maintaining commercial HVACR systems in a hotel, resort, healthcare, commercial, institutional, or similar large-scale facility environment.
Previous hotel engineering experience preferred.
Proven experience with commercial HVAC equipment, refrigeration systems, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and central plant operations is preferred
Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and control systems.
Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex mechanical and HVACR systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and digital controls preferred.
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
High level of professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
Schedule Requirements
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-in situations as required by hotel operations.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders, access rooftops, mechanical rooms, and confined spaces.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions for extended periods.
Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, testing equipment, and motorized equipment.
Preferred Certifications
EPA Universal Certification
HVAC/R Trade Certification or Technical Degree
Electrical, Controls, or Building Automation certifications
Pool Operator Certification (CPO) a plus
